Tips to remember when meeting with your florist.

Selecting flowers, for your wedding day.

Ask your florist to show you flowers that are "look a likes". If you love roses but can't afford them, your florist can provide you with samples of blooms that can give you the same overall look with a smaller price tag.

Selecting flowers that are in season at the time of your wedding will save you up to 40%. Be flexible and decide on a "color palette" instead of choosing an exact color for your flowers. This will allow your florist some room to purchase the best of what is available in your palette or shade, and save you money instead of having to special order your specific color request.

More Simple Wedding Guide Tips:

Don't shy away from flowers that are not your favorite or are referred to as being cheap. Try selecting a vibrant color and incorporate some of your favorite blooms in creative ways. This will enable you to create a larger bouquet or more centerpieces, and save you money along the way. Ask your florist to create something for you to look at, before you dismiss this idea. If your reception hall requires you to create a large number of centerpieces to make your venue look spectacular, you must use larger blooms. Larger blooms mean fewer flowers for each arrangement. If you select smaller blooms, you will have to purchase twice as many flowers to make each arrangement, and more flowers adds up to more cost.

Incorporate colorful fruit such as granny smith apples, limes, lemons or pears into your floral arrangements to stretch your budget. Tuck your favorite blooms in between each piece of fruit to achieve a unique and fresh arrangement.

Select a setting such as a park or vineyard to have your ceremony. Set your wedding date for a time of year when all the trees and flowers will be in full bloom. If you select a vineyard, your date should be set for when the grapes are ready to be harvested to get the full effect of this special location.

Be sure to set the date for a time when flowers are in full bloom. You may even be able to use some of the gardens fresh flowers for your bouquet, boutonnieres and corsages.

Having your entire wedding at one location, instead of having the ceremony at one location and the reception at another will also save you money.

Scheduling your wedding on a Friday or Sunday is also a way to save some extra cash.

Avoid the holidays. Prices for flowers normally soar around Valentine's Day or Mother's Day.
