Simple Church Wedding Decorations
Your church wedding decorations should begin at the entrance of your wedding location. Cover a small table with a floor length table cloth, at the entrance of your wedding ceremony location; place your guest book and pen. A small floral arrangement can be added as well as an engagement portrait or a basket filled with wedding programs.
Special photographs of parents or grandparents, that have passed away, are sometimes placed on a special table or at a place of honor near the altar. Couples sometimes incorporate a special moment in the ceremony to remember and honor these family members by placing a single rose by their photograph or lighting a candle.
Altar The altar will be the main focus during your wedding ceremony, make sure that the most elaborate floral arrangements are placed here. Remember that too many arrangements, or arrangements that are very large may interfere with your photographers ability to get great shots. Pedestal arrangements can be placed flanking the area where you'll say your vows, as well as flowers in front of the pulpit or stand for readings. If there will be any additional tables for unity candles or religious traditions or other uses, be sure to add decor to these as well.
Pew Decorations Wedding pew decorations are an easy way to dress up your ceremony location and incorporate your wedding theme, colors and style. When visiting your wedding ceremony location, make note of the approximate size of the altar area and width of the aisle. It is very important that the size of your church wedding decorations are designed to the appropriate demensions to fit your particular location. When designing your wedding pew decorations be sure not to create a decoration that is too bold or large. You want the decor to be an accent that will incorporate the style of your wedding not overwhelm it. Remember that you will be walking down that same aisle and will need enough space to accommodate you, your dress and the persons that will be walking you down the aisle as well. If your ceremony site has a very narrow aisle you can focus more on decorations at the altar and place small bows accented with flowers on each pew.
Aisle An aisle runner is also a nice touch, and should be placed just before the ring bearer and flower girl walks down the aisle. Many churches do not allow real flower petals to be used during the ceremony, for fear that they may stain the carpet. If this is the case, silk petals can be used instead.
Special Chairs Some churches provide special chairs for the bride and groom to sit in during the mass or readings. Be sure to decorate the backs of these chairs as well. Bows and a small cluster of flowers is a simple church wedding decoration for these chairs and will face the congregation during your ceremony.
Double Duty Decorations Free-standing pedestal arrangements are also a popular choice for church wedding decor at ceremony location. These arrangements can be moved to the reception venue to provide a back drop for wedding photographs. Outside of Church
Finally, make sure to prepare satchels of bird seed, confetti or designer wedding rice for showering the happy couple with blessings as they leave the church. Fresh or dried flower petals, can be used for a fragrant and environmentally friendly choice for our feathered friends.
